Akismet seems to have trouble counting in any way that makes sense to me on my site (I even counted the actual Spam posts and kept a running count for a month – never could figure out how it counted)- check an make sure that you don’t have any “auto-delete” enabled – and the Spam will just be waiting faithfully for you – Akismet’s counts seem to have some sort of offset in them and the count in Dashboard did not match the Akismet page if I remember correctly – it also keeps a running totals for the months and since forever.

I just can’t ever see the spam from Akismet. For example it just counted a couple more comments yesterday (went from 38 to 40), but they never showed up in my spam folder.
Oops missed the .COM – sorry about that – this forum is for self hosted WordPress.ORG software – I think WordPress.COM might handle things differently – I have a blog over there also and don’t remember seeing any Spam to check –
