Login problem after reinstallation

I’m a newbie and just reinstalled WordPress 2.9.2 to a new location and it went all the way through to the login screen and emailed me my username and password, but it won’t log in – no error message, just comes up with the same login page again. Then I tried resetting password but it never came through my email. Then I manually reset it in mysql but it still isn’t logging in. Please help.
