• Hi, Hector!

I want to ask you, if it’s possible to exclude current popular post? Example: visitor came to read a post. And this post is in top-5 popular posts on my website. So it automically hides from visitor and the next popular by views post is displayed.

I saw this feature in a recent posts plugin. It always hides the current post.

So, is it possible to do in your plugin? If not, then maybe you will add this feature in future?

Thanks an advance for an answer!

    Hi @giorgos93,

No, the plugin -as you already noticed- doesn’t have an option for this. Personally though I prefer having the list display all posts because from the visitor’s perspective it would be odd that a link they just clicked on and that they’re currently viewing on screen suddenly dissapeared from the popular posts list.

Currently you can hide from view the current posts via CSS but only if you’re not using any of the bundled widget themes (eg. Cards, Cards Compact, etc). I might update the themes so the popular entry gets a specific CSS class when in view.

I personally don’t think that it will somehow confuse visitors, because they won’t even notice it, at least in my case.

I have 5 popular posts at the bottom of sidebar, so if users would visit a current popular post, then it would disappear and the 6th popular post in line would be added instead. It will also add a bit of differentiation in a list.

I do use Cards Compact widget theme, so yeah, it would be great, if you will add a current popular post css class, or something like that!

I get your point of view but unfortunately in this instance it seems we’ll have to agree to disagree. The chances of the proposed behavior being implemented are very low for the reasons stated above.
