    Greetings mate!

I m working on a site that has been looked at for a while after a lockdown hiatus and once everything was updated including autoptimize I notice that if the update button is pressed on a post it is now making the autoptimize cache clears completely when this did not happen before. This is having a knock on effect as when the autoptimize cache is told to clear it causes other plugins to clear too and this is very undesirable.

I have used troubleshooting mode and a staging server and this also happens on a fresh version of WordPress and the most recent version of autoptimize. You can test it for yourself with no problems.

Is there some way to turn this off as I don’t want everything to be cleared when I press update on a post I need that manual control and to be able to know what is going on, thanks?

I want to be able to press update on a post and know that the autoptimize cache has not been told to clear, thanks.

Afraid something else is happening here, as AO _never_ clears its own cache as a matter of principle.

I do know that some plugins and at least one major theme (Divi) does tell AO to clear the cache upon a post publication though, so that would be the route your would have to investigate?

    hope this helps,
    frank

Nope, sorry mate. We’re seeing it on a fresh WordPress instance on a staging server with just Autoptimize, 2020 theme and nothing else! You might want to test it as it looks like your plugin is broken mate. When you press update on a post the Autoptimize cache clears every time without fail, so if you claim that “AO _never_ clears its own cache as a matter of principle” then it must be the WordPress Core causing your plugin to clear it’s cache 🙂 Sorry mate, but this looks like a zero day type bug that you might want to take some time to test and fix 😉

As a matter of fact I incidentally tested this just yesterday, no issues to be seen I’m afraid. A hosting thing? :-/

Nope – it’s a plugin thing for sure, I just had my developer in India test and he saw the same problem on his server. Sorry mate – it needs work 😉

Let me test on my own blog, back in a minute 😉

    Afraid I cannot reproduce Denny;

Before pushing publish the cache size is 2.47MB

After pushing publish the cache size still is the same 2.47MB:

I have just asked another developer to check and he replicated on two blogs, different hosts, and the cache cleared when update or publish was pressed. Looks like there’s a problem 😉

    Never say never, but just tested on another host (servebolt) and still can’t reproduce;

    before publish 118 files:

    after publish still 118 files:

I’ll test on yet another site & hoster after this.

OK, so the last attempt on a site that is at one.com this time:

    before publish 3.32mb

    after publish 3.32mb

I’m not saying there is no problem whatsoever, but from a purely technical point of view (the way AO works) and based on the 3 tests I did (different hosts, different setups) what we can at least conclude is that there is no _generic_ problem with AO clearing its own cache.

Now the question remains; what is happening with your & your developers sites. I’m baffled to be honest .. :-/

    What theme are you using?

    Thread Starter dennydaforio

    (@dennydaforio)

As I said earlier mate, 2020 theme, although you could try any theme TBH it will still clear the cache.

Now the question remains; what is happening with your & your developers sites.

LOL! Default install! Default theme! Can’t get more obvious than that mate.

TBH don’t have time for this and there are other plugins that do the same thing but don’t clear the cache so won’t be waiting around for this one unless there’s a fix. 😉

    (@optimizingmatters)

Well, the issue as I’m sure you understand is that I cannot reproduce and if I cannot reproduce then (a) it is not a generic issue and (b) I cannot start debugging.

But we’ve met before, haven’t we Denny? 😉

    (@dennydaforio)

    ??

I think you need help mate lol.

    😀

Anyways; I’m not saying you are seeing what your seeing, but I can’t reproduce so my hands are tied. If you can setup a test/ staging site somewhere, feel free to contact me at https://blog.futtta.be/contact/ and we can see if I can find out what is going on on that test site?
