Hi everyone, is there a way to see if a user downloaded a file from the web (a pdf for instance), so, see in the activity log viewer who downloaded a file and witch file downloaded?

    Thank you.

Thank you for showing interest in our plugin @aticosegunda

If the file is linked directly (for example: https://example.com/file.pdf) then it is impossible to keep a log of each download since when the user requests the file, the HTTP request is handled by the web server and is not even sent to WordPress. In that case you can find such information in the web server log file. You can also find a number of free tools that can parse web server log files.

If the file though is served as a download via for example WooCommerce, then yes, you can keep a log of the download.

How are you making the file available for download please?

    Hi Robert,

I’m afraid it’s the first type of download. But your answer was really helpful! I really apreciate your support.

I’ll look for the way to handle it via server.

    Again, really thankful 🙂
