I have my product catalog set to display only categories and this is working good for the Shop page, but I want to change this for the search results, everything I search is displayed as categories and not as products.

    This is the current result:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rHn-5IBNlAfwoO3bgh5-QexhI_-QiCBy/view?usp=sharing

And this is how it should be: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ir-PPVUwY06sUNBzTI4oIgRcFU9tnEao/view?usp=sharing

What I have discovered some far, with the help of WooCommerce and Elementor support, is that the issue is related with an incompatibility between Elementor templates and Storefront theme. If I deactivate the Elementor’s template the result is as expected.

This is the response from Elementor support:

Regarding this issue, I came across that the Storefront theme is overridden the Elementor search products template, it seems there is a compatibility issue with this.

I even created a default search template and this didn't work too, please note that themes and third-party plugins can't guarantee it will work as expected, in this case, we suggest switching to a different theme, we can't recommend a specific one but you can check the following link:
    https://elementor.com/help/best-elementor-themes/

Otherwise, we suggest reporting the issue to Storefront team support, they would be in a better position to provide a fix or any insights about this.

Is there any available fix for this issue from Storefront side?

    Thank you!

    Hi @angieperaza,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Hmm, by default, WooCommerce will not search for and display categories, so Storefront would display a “No products were found matching your selection” message.

I am not quite sure what you mean by “If I deactivate the Elementor’s template the result is as expected.” Do you mean that the search feature works the want you want it to work with Elementor deactivated?

Hi @wpniall, yes that’s correct. If I deactivate the Elementor’s template the search result display the products: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11Xa2_pUsLZRyjrbwboplvyhE7_pWvuqO/view?usp=sharing

That’s why I contacted Elementor support previously but what they said is Storefront theme is overwriting Elementor’s template.

Let me know if you need more details, thank you.

    Hi there,

That’s why I contacted Elementor support previously but what they said is Storefront theme is overwriting Elementor’s template.

I’m afraid we don’t support third-party products. It would be up to Elementor to fix this incompatibility.
