error: corrupt file when downloading & extracting wordpress

    Hi – I keep getting an error message when I try to download and extract wordpress from winzip onto my laptop. It tells me that the file is corrupt and can’t extract it.

    has anyone else had the same problem and what is the solution?

    I just want to download it, extract it from winzip and install it

    winzip seems to have problems lately from reports here
    use the native windows unzip (right lick on zip file)
    or use a free unzip that works

    Ok thanks – tried both of them but when filzip tries to open the wordpress files it gives me this message:

    “the archive is not a valid zip archive”

    ???

    I have a very slow broadband connection right now and am wondering if that could be causing the problem?

    Having said that, I do notice that, despite these error messages I do seem to have a wordpress folder on my desktop now with numerous wordpress files in it. but cant see the wp-config-sample file

    Any suggestions?
