Hi, I was reading this blog which talks about SEO and HOW TO AUTO GENERATE META DESCRIPTION TAG IN WORDPRESS BLOGS. It mentions entering %%excerpt%% in title and meta description to auto generate, Yoast will start generating meta-description automatically.

@staffordshire The Yoast SEO plugin does have the ability to generate the title and meta description settings through the use of template settings in SEO>Search Appearance. We also have additional information on using the template variables as well as a full list of which variables are available for use at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/yoast-wordpress-seo-titles-metas-template-variables/
