    Hi,

Before last update of FooGallery I used “Force Original Thumbs” and if my memory is right (I am in test mode) the “Responsive Image Gallery” was displaying webp images.

To have the “Responsive Image Gallery” display images I have to uncheck “Force Original Thumbs” and webp images are not served anymore. If “Force Original Thumbs” is checked no images will display.

The webp format has been out for 10 years and finally supported by all browsers including Safari and frankly I don’t care about Internet Explorer or cave dwellers. The webp & jpeg images are generated by Imagify and in downloads folder in all imaginable sizes that are added in functions.php. I have to generate more thumbnails with FooGallery…

All other images on my website are served webp with a fallback to jpg through srcset.

How can I setup FooGallery to take advantage of the webp images generated by Imagify?

    Please advise

    hi @absolugroupe

Do you have a URL you can share when the images are not loading so I can see what is going on please.

“Force Original Thumbs” forces FooGallery to use the original images rather than generate thumbs to the specific sizes. This might show the thumbs correctly, but it not ideal as it will load bigger images than needed. I will check out imagify to see how they are doing things and get back to you

    Hi,

I can certainly send you an URL to your email. I prefer not to submit links on public forums. The amount of spam that I get when I do is overwhelming.

For test purposes and to find a solution Imagify is free up to a certain amount of megabytes. Setup is super easy you just select <picture> that is the preferred method in the webp section.

I generate enough thumbnails and have chosen one of the thumbnail sizes that I generate so using « Force Original Thumbs » is not an issue. If everything gets to work properly, to my understanding, that is the only way that webp images will be served as FooGallery does not generate webp thumbnails.

Essentially the webp thumbnails are there they just need to be served by FooGallery.

Awaiting an email to send URL.

    Hi Brad,

The patch that you sent me makes the images in the gallery flash momentarily and then the loading script kicks in and the images disappear. I sent you the same reply by email.

The issue is not resolved and it is special that you made it resolved.

Awaiting for support to resolve the issue.

    Hi Brad,

Thank you for the great work and solution.

After researching and trying several – almost all – gallery plugins I was looking for a balance of lightweight, performant, webp compatible & with great support prior to going with the premium version.

FooGallery is the only gallery plugin that achieves those four criteria.

Thank you for the outstanding above & beyond support.
