We are trying to create a product for an entry into an event. You must select one of 3 entry types, along with 2 possible add-ons as part of the sign up process. Is there a way in default woocommerce or with a plugin that can allow all 5 options to be a multi-select in a product (with all 5 options having their own inventory control) or even have them spit up with a good inventory control for each option, and keep it all in the same single product form on our site? We have tried composite and grouped products but it doesn’t quite give us what we want. We are open to free and premium option. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @fastpitchmasters – nothing I can think of with core, but you could certainly check out some of the add-ons available:

https://woocommerce.com/products/composite-products/ (I know you said you tried composite, but wasn’t sure if it was the official extension)
    https://woocommerce.com/products/product-bundles/

I believe either of those would work for you basic needs, but each is slightly different.
If you have specific pre-sales questions about either one, please contact us via: https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/

Thank you for the response. The standard variable product works pretty close to our needs. But with 3 entries driving the variable pricing, can inventory be kept for 2 of the entries but not the 3rd?

For example, product Z has 3 entries for its variables: entry 1 has options A, B, and C. entry 2 has option F & G. and entry 3 has 7 options. Altogether, this makes 42 total options and it lets you keep inventory of all 42 seperately. However, I only really need to keep inventory of options A, B, C and F. Is there any way to do something like that?

I really don’t see a way of doing this with a variable product that will scale well.. You need to create a variation for each possible combination of attributes in order to control inventory for different versions of these attributes.
I’m not sure I see a way around using some sort of plugin that offers additional functionality.
