Yoast is set to automatically update. The auto-update is managed by Easy Updates Manager. It is clearly set to auto-update.

    I constantly get this notification:

“We see that you enabled automatic updates for WordPress. We recommend that you do this for Yoast SEO as well. This way we can guarantee that WordPress and Yoast SEO will continue to run smoothly together. Go to your plugins overview to enable auto-updates for Yoast SEO.”

I have tried triggering it off and on. It is on, that is set to automatically update, but this notification persists.

Worse, hiding the notification does nothing. It still pops back up a few page visits later. Hiding it only works for a very short time.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @uninvolved,

From what we understand, this notification appears when you have WordPress major core updates enabled, but not Yoast SEO. If you dismiss it, the value should be saved so that it won’t appear again.

We weren’t able to reproduce the problem. Can you share more details about your settings?

Can you also test to see if you see this notification and whether you can dismiss it if you deactivate Easy Updates Manager temporarily?

    Thank you for responding.

I’ve tried dismissing it, but it pops back up soon after. That setting doesn’t stick. In fact, it seems to revert when I visit a page on my site – leaving the admin section.

    Maybe some pics will help.

    The notification:

    View post on imgur.com

    The dashboard notification:

    View post on imgur.com

(I’ve hit the button to hide it numerous times.)

Showing that it’s managed and updating automatically:

    View post on imgur.com

    View post on imgur.com

If I hit the hide button (even though I shouldn’t need to), it comes back. First and foremost, I shouldn’t be getting the notification at all – as it is set to automatically update.

If it helps, I have zero attachment to that particular auto-update plugin. I’m willing to try others if you think that will help.

@uninvolved We reviewed the screenshots you provided and do see that you are using the WordPress Easy Update plugin to manage the auto-updates of your plugins. As of WordPress version 5.5 an auto-update feature was added to WordPress core, so it doesn’t require an additional plugin to manage that anymore.

You can read more about this feature and how to manage it here.

It’s very possible that the reason you are receiving that notification is that Yoast SEO is checking whether the auto-update feature for the plugin that is part of WordPress is enabled, and not that of the Easy Update plugin.

Can you please try disabling the Easy Update plugin, and enabling the auto-update feature that is integral to WordPress and let us know whether that resolves the notification?

I was with family for the rest of the weekend.

That appears to have done the trick, thanks!

Oops… I forgot to mark it as resolved.

So, here’s an extra reply to do that. Thanks again. It appears to be resolved.
