Hi, I have a problem with the “Wordfence” plugin.
I have uninstalled it and now it does not let me enter the wordpress backend and the recovery email does not reach me either.
The web page loads fine, but I cannot enter the control panel, I have uninstalled the plugin by following these steps:

    – Install “Wordfence Assistant” plugin.
    – Click on “Disable Wordfence Firewall” button to remove the firewall related files/entries in “.htaccess”/.user.ini file.
    – Click on “Remove all Wordfence Data in the Database and elsewhere”.
    – Connect to your website via SFTP/FTP to delete the plugin folder from (/wp-content/plugins/) directory.

Once the steps are done, now I can’t enter the wordpress backend, what can I do?

I have activated debugging and this tells me in the wordpress backend:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/params/iconpicker/iconpicker.php on line 3729

Hello @lirelok and thanks for reaching out to us!

To ensure you have completely removed Wordfence, follow these steps:

    • Remove extended protection manually (https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#removing-the-optimization)
    • Remove the wordfence plugin folder located in wp-content/plugins
    • Remove the wflogs folder located in wp-content
    • Remove wordfence-waf.php located in the root of you WordPress installation
    • Remove all Wordfence related database tables from the database, using for example phpMyAdmin or Wordfence Assistant plugin.
    • Check either .htaccess file or .user.ini depending on your server configuration and remove any code snippets wrapped by # Wordfence WAF and # END Wordfence WAF.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks again!
