Hiding logo dynamically leaves space

I’m trying to hide my site logo on scroll dynamically using JS. I add a class to set display:none, which works. But it’s leaving behind space where the widget was which is skewing my remaining header. I apply the class to the Site Logo widget using the ID biglogo. This is in W10 on Edge and Firefox. I’m using the latest version of Elementor.
