• I’m having an interesting problem and not sure how to resolve it. Every time that I try and add a plugin or try to upgrade “automatically” to the latest version, WP asks me for my FTP information. I give it and then the screen just hangs and doesn’t update or install anything — forcing me to manually update the site via an FTP client.

Any ideas on why it would just hang? I installed WP on my server by myself instead of through Fantastico or similar program that most companies have.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

  • Try adding:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

to the top of your WP root .htaccess file.

esmi — I tried that, and when I went to my login screen, it outputted a TON of code and did not display my normal WP login screen.

    Any other ideas? 🙂

(thanks for trying to help me so far)

Are you sure you add that line to the right file?

Yes…this is what comes up when I go to my wp-login.php page for my site after adding the above code:

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

Try re-uploading all files and folders – with the exception of the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of your version of WordPress.
