Will updating the plugin interrupt the sending process?

I’ve searched for more information on this many times and thought it would be best to actually ask the question here.

What will happen to a newsletter that is being sent when the plugin gets updated?

Will the sending process be interrupted while updating and resume after?
Or will it just stop, with the option to resume manually?

Is it best to wait with the update until the sending process has finished?

I don’t use automatic plugin updates, but I run into this issue when I need to update the plugin at a certain time and can’t wait until the plugin is done sending a newsletter.

What are the risks of updating the plugin when a newsletter is being sent?

I hope someone can shed more light on this soon.
