Custom Fields instantly remove themself when I click update

I am using a Theme called flashnews, i found a huge change log and went through it to work out some bugs mainly with the homepage featured items.

To ad images to the featured section on the home page i need to use custom fields, name = image and value = image-location-URL

Well when i input my custom field it lookas as if its attaching itself to the post, but then i click update post and poof its gone.

but I am stumped and need help with a fix.

Right now the only thing i can do to get it to work is to FTP the old functions.php file ad the custom field and the FTP up the new functions.php file and that is no way to enjoy blogging
