I’m not seeing the test mode message if I follow the link to your page, and I’m obviously not signed in to your site.
I double-checked on my own dev site, and am not getting the message either. I can’t make it happen here after I un-check that option. Have not had any reports from any other users either.
My guess is that you have some caching of the page going on… either with your browser, or a caching plugin, or possibly even server side caching.
Try holding down the shift key and reloading the page to see if it goes away… if it does, then it’s your browser caching. If not, look for a caching plugin or server side caching.
These are all off as well:
Read Only Signup?
Show Login Link?
Disable Login Notices?
I’ve narrowed it down, but it doesn’t look like a cache issue.
I use Edge as my “try something while not logged in” option. After the first time, I cleared my cache and it still happened.
I just tried from a different PC, and it works properly in Chrome but I get that error again in Edge. So something to do with Edge despite a fresh cache.
I just copied and pasted your site link into Edge on my computer, and I still do NOT see that message. So, most likely a cached version inside your Edge browser and you’ll need to figure out how to clear it. But, the good news is that other visitors are not going to see it if it’s just something with your own browser.
Either way, at this point, it’s beyond the scope of my plugin, as it’s clearly just something with your browser and my plugin doesn’t have anything to do with caching in any way at all.
OK, here’s information for you. No idea if you care – do with it what you will. Don’t plan to reply again. I feel like I’m being attacked for giving you information.
– Clearing the cache in Edge doesn’t do anything.
– Clearing the cache at the server resolves it.
– Once.
– Any changes (like adding volunteer spots) are not reflected in the browser (despite clearing cache or using an InPrivate window) unless the cache is again cleared at the server.
– That is true on two PCs at my house and another I’m remoting into. I understand you haven’t replicated it, but I see what I see.
I’m not attacking you. I just don’t understand why you don’t want to accept that there is nothing I can do in my plugin to solve your caching issues. You clearly already figured out it’s a problem with your server caching, especially in conjunction with Edge.
What would you like me to do at this point? I have donated many years of my time to this plugin and free support for it, and it’s not my job to fix server issues for people, especially when I’m not getting paid for my time.
You need to get with your hosting company and turn off caching for your site. Pages that generate dynamic content should NOT be cached. If you have any kind of caching plugin on your site, then you need to turn it off, or set it to not cache pages with dynamic content (if the plugin allows). Again, all beyond the scope of my plugin and my support.
