Hi,
thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.
Normally, this text is translated automatically, if your site uses a language (in the admin area) for which a translation file (in the folder https://github.com/TobiasBg/TablePress/tree/master/i18n/datatables ) exists. For this, TablePress uses the language code of the site. For French, this normally is “fr_FR”. If your site is not using a language like that, you can force a translation, by adding another parameter to the used Shortcode:
[table id=123 datatables_locale="fr_FR" /]
You could also create custom translation via the TablePress Extension from https://tablepress.org/extensions/change-datatables-strings/

Tobias
OK, i checked, i think i found why, you have a french/france translation, i use french/canada, not the same name, my wordpress is in french/canada
tablepress-fr-FR.po
since i use polylang, i also have
tablepress-en-CA.po
the [table id=123 datatables_locale=”fr_FR” /] is a quick fix, but theres should be a translation copy from FR To CA,
all the terms in there i saw are the same in french canadian, thank you
Hi,
ah, yes, that would explain it.
Yes, I could indeed add a “fr_CA” copy, probably. But probably it would be even better to connect these files to the wordpress.org translation system… I’ll think abou that!
In the meantime, you could use the Extension that I mentioned above and copy the lang-fr-FR.json to the Extension’s folder and rename it to lang-fr-CA.json. That way it will be used automatically and you won’t have to add the Shortcode parameter everywhere.
Regards,
Tobias
Hi,
no problem, you are very welcome! 🙂 Good to hear that this helped!
Best wishes,
Tobias
P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
If the plugin is not translated to fr_CA, it can be done.
In the meantime, you can add this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/preferred-languages/
You setup your site as fr_CA and fallback to fr_FR. That will get you what is available in fr_FR if fr_CA is not available for a specific plugin.
Hi,
thanks for that suggestion! This really looks interesting, I hadn’t seen this plugin before!
It might not help with this particular problem, because the relevant file is not using the official WordpPress translation mechanism, but it would be worth a try!
Best wishes,
Tobias
