    Hello everyone.

    I am redesigning the website my blog is on and I don’t want to lose the blog. Essentially what I am trying to do is move it from:

    http://www.domain.net

    to

    blog.domain.net

    how do i do this smoothly and without having to start over. i’ve been trying to figure this out and its driving me nuts

    First upgrade your WP to the latest version. Then backup your database via SSH or phpMyAdmin or similar interface. After that backup your current themes folder. That’s it…

    Go to your new domain install same version WP you have backup and using the same interface you used to backup the database, import it back up. Copy over the themes folder into the same location and you’re all set.

    its always a good idea to back everything up. Especially theme if using a custom one, and your database.

    That being said….you won’t lose everything. As long as you have the files, and you have the database. Even if you mess something up, or something goes wrong in the move, it can be remedied….

    Use the Theme Test Drive plugin so you can see your dev theme w/o activating it.
