did you run the installer for 7-zip? and it’s installed on your computer?
if so, right click the wordpress zip and choose to open with 7zip
that is an excellent unzipper
In attempting to open the Zipped WordPress software, I right-clicked on WordPress and clicked on “open with.” I had to brouse for 7-Zip: under 7-Zip are three possibilities: 7-Zip GUI, 7-Zip File Manager, and, 7-Zip Console. I tried all three of them, but none of them opened WordPress. Do you know what the problem might be?
There should be a 7-Zip option in the right-click context in most cases. If not you can try this;
Start > all programs > 7-zip > run the 7-zip file manager.
After it opens, select;
Tools > Options > Plugins and highlight “7-Zip” in the plugins list.
Now click “OPTIONS” to the right of the plugin list, and check the box that says “integrate 7-zip into shell context menu” and click on Apply.
Close the manager interface down and go back and see if 7-zip is now in your right-click menu. (might require a restart, but shouldn’t)
Right click > 7-zip > Extract files > click OK
That will leave a single directory with the entire contents in it on your desktop.
Alternatively, if you are using Windows XP or later OS, you could also just right click the file and select “Extract All…” that should use the native windows compression utility to un-zip the file.
Thank you samboll and Clayton James for your information. I was able to open the WordPress folder.
