Need help with the Age Gate plugin

    I have a WordPress site eaglecapshooters.com for which I need to add a page to verify a person is 18 or older and is a legal resident of the state of Oregon. This is required by the Oregon Department of Justice for online sales of raffle tickets. I happened to stumble upon this page: https://mitsubishioutlandersweeps.com/en-US/AgeGate which is EXACTLY what I need!

    Is Age Gate the plugin that was used to create that page? If so, how do I duplicate it? I’m new to WordPress and my eaglecapshooters.com site is the first site I’ve ever built.

    I’ve installed and activated the Age Gate plugin, but I’m not sure how to incorporate it into my site or how to add the state of residence confirmation.

    Hi @johnnywishbone,

    That one isn’t this plugin, but you can achieve the same results.

    For adding the state, you need an additional plugin to add the regions. You can get that here.

    You can then have a bit of a read of the documentation to get to grips with all the settings. The regions add-on has it’s own docs section too, that one is here.

    That should be all you need to get going.

    Hi Phil,

    I believe I have it working but it still needs some tweeking. I have it configured to only allow access if over 18 years old AND a resident of Oregon. What’s weird is, I entered a valid birthdate but a state not = to Oregon and it let me access the page. Here’s the test URL: https://eaglecapshooters.com/ecsa-gun-raffles/

    Hi John,

    In the region settings, set the required age to -1 to block them completely. Looks like they all have 18 right now.

    Phil,

    I changed all of the states to -1 expect Oregon. It still allows access to the page if I select a state other than Oregon, but enter a valid birthdate. I saved all the changes.

    Hi John,

    On the front end they are still set to 18 (well, TVRnPQ== which is 18).

    -1 would be TFRFPQ==.

    Make sure you’ve cleared any caches if you have them. If not I’ll check for bugs in the morning.

    I forgot to clear the server side cache – it works now! I just need to work on styling and the custom error messages.
