publishing without approval

The two buttons for adding an event and updating an event on this page suddenly stopped working and users received an “unauthorized” error. Setting up an anonymous user (with subscriber capabilities) allowed anyone to post, but now the “pending admin approval” capability is gone.

I did not set-up this plugin but have gone through the documentation. I set up the anonymous user properly – does anyone know why events are just automatically posting and the pending admin approval is not working?
