index.php not found

I uploaded WordPress just fine. I put the WordPress files in
anoctavebelowalto.com/wordpress/

In post.php, I named anoctavebelowalto.com as the place for my blog. Then I made an entry. When I went to view the entry, I got a 404 error. I checked the directory and there was no index.php.

There is, however, an index.htm and an index.html, the latter being from my movabletype blog.

What am I doing wrong and how do I correct it.
