Hi @arutha176! Thanks, I hope all is well with you too.
That’s not possible with plugin options right now, but it’s something that’s been requested in the past so I’ll add that to the list of future improvements. Normally I’d say the CSS and JS files are so small that it wouldn’t be an issue, but your homepage is really optimized for a WordPress site so I see why you’d want to prevent Modern Footnotes from loading there! If there was a way to prevent it from loading that required some custom code (eg, modifying your theme functions.php file), would that work for you? If it does, I’ll get a solution together for that since adding a plugin option for it is probably a ways off.
Hi Sean!
Some custom code would be nice, buuuuut… It may be a lot of work for you and maybe it will prove to be not important. I decided to try the cloudflare thing and it’s probable that the files of modern footnotes will be even less of a issue then. In other words, don’t go out of your way looking for a code solution, I would feel guilty about it!
I believe I asked you thinking not only of this site, but of the other site that I maintain. It is a ngo site very lacking in funds and it has more problems, as it is hosted by a very weak provider (a friend of the group, my, what we do for friends lol) and never get to speed. Probably when I get to optimize it, I will look for a lot of custom codes or even a plugin!
Anyway, as a future improvement, I really think it’s a good idea. I have the impression that most people avoid footnotes on the homepage as I do.
thank you!
@arutha176 Sounds good! I’ll get this in as a future improvement then. Thanks for the good feedback!
Hi @arutha176,
I’ve changed the plugin’s behavior now so that, by default, the CSS and JS will not load on pages where footnotes aren’t used!
Best,
Sean
