• Hello guys, im new to wordpress and new here, im trying to set up a website but i have a problem that keeps bugging me for hours.
I installed wordpress accidently in wp directory because it was like that by default, when i realized it I uninstalled wordpress and i did a clean installation from the begining with a random theme and i left blank the directory field, i saw in file manager that everything is ok the wp folder is gone from the html_public folder. However when i try to go to the homepage of my website it keeps redirecting me to mysitehomepage.com/wp, it adds itself the /wp in the end of my websites url and it gives me a 404 sorry we couldn’t find that page error, i tried to create a new .htaccess file in permalinks in wordpress settings but nothing, it keeps doing the same.
There are some so odd things about this, for example i have tried many times to reinstall the wordpress but even when i have no wordpress installation when i try to visit the homepage of my website it keeps adding the /wp in the end of my websites url even when there is nothing in public_html folder, even without .htaccess file at all. Also another thing is that only the homepage has this problem, all the other pages of my website are working fine, without givimg me any errors and without the /wp in the end of the url. This happens only to the homepage.
I have no idea what to do, please some help would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance and sorry for the long topic.

  • it has probably cached your page in your browser. Have you tried clearing your browser cache.
