Archives, blog link

We have a static page called archives and want to post a link to each blog by month & order (title) need the title to link to the blog

Our home page is where we blog and we only want to show a portion a the blog with a link at the end called “read the full article” how do we do this? thanks wp newbies using WP and thesis theme
