• Hi

I had a virus problem this week with my site theschiller.com, so i deleted all my wp files emptied all the tables from my database. I uploaded a new (upgraded) versionof WP (2.9.1) and tried to install it, but got this error message:

One or more database tables is unavailable.

    Any suggestions?

( I already added the ‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’ to the wp-config.php file and nothing improved).

Is there something wrong with wp-config.php file??

Would be grateful for any help – obviously pulling my hair (fairly new to this).

    Ben

  • Do you have all the tables? See Database Description.

Yes, all there, as the diagram shows. There was one extra one – which I didn’t put there – wp_flckr_post – but i’ve now deleted that.

I tried to install again and it’s still coming up with the same message:

One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired.

Is there anything else I can do?

Assuming you do have a good backup before the problem started, if you drop all your tables, will it do a new install?
    visit yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php to do that

    Also who is your host?

i tried that (http://www.theschiller.com/wp-admin/install.php) but came back with the error message.

    My host is Freedom2Surf – http://www.freedom2surf.net/

Are you sure you have the correct privileges to that database?

Guess you could add that line to your wp-config.php to see if makes any difference.

I know I have the right privileges because my site was on that database already. I only deleted the last version because I had a virus and that seemed to be the only way to fix. Now I tried and install the new version, it comes back with: “One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired.”

I don’t understand what could have changed about the database to not allow me to install the new version? Is there something I need to do to the database to prepare it for the new version?

    Pulling my hair out..

Seems like you are doing everything right.

What happens if you delete the database and database user completely, then redefine them. I know…makes no sense.

I uploaded all the files again, repair the tables with phpadmin and nothing… so now really flumoxed.

Maybe the virus did something to the database that doesn’t allow me to reinstall ???

Wonder if your host would have any input?
