Video embed not working

    I have just setub a new blog with wordpress 2.9.2
    I have a weard problem with embedding videos. I did try Youtube and Vimeo.
    When I enter the html code in the html-part of the new post editor the html is there, put when I click publish it dissapears.
    embedding videos the O-embed way still works fine.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    I did disable all the plugins and changed the theme back to default.
    But the problem is still there.
    So I tried some more.
    It seems the Admin has no problem including embeds in the html part of the post editor. But authors can’t add embeds?
    Is this normal or is it a bug?

    That’s normal as far I as I know. I have a vague recollection of embedding being limited to admins and editors because of the security implications.

    I use the SmartYouTube plug-in to take care of YouTube video embeds. Works like a charm, as WordPress strips a lot of the code that YouTube gives for embedding videos.

    As for other sites, no idea, as I generally don’t link from them.

    I tried to embed a video from TED by copying the embed code from TED and pasting that into my blog post. The embed code showed up instead of the video.

    I tried using the Add media file from URL function. The link to the video on TED shows up, not the video.

    I tried downloading the file from TED and uploading it into my post. The file is about 45MB. I tried this 3 times and got errors each time.

    What should I do?
