rss feed returns ‘404: Object not Found’ | WordPress.org

hi guys
ive finally got round to adding an rss feed to my site, when i click the rss button (that came with my theme) it takes me to URL ../feed/rss which returns a 404 error saying:

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

ive tried adding the feed to moz thunderbird, but that says it doesnt exist also. is there a setting somewhere ive missed?

im new to RSS so be gentle, please 🙂

RV, thats great, how can i customise the RSS page, colours, fonts, images etc?

I don’t really know anything about RSS….other than I didn’t really think you could customize much? my understanding….it’s just content, the appearance is dictated by the end-users reader? For instance I use google reader for my RSS by default, so thats what I see everyone’s RSS pages in….

I may be wrong here tho…..I’ve never looked into it too much

Not sure why you’d want to either. RSS isn’t meant to be viewed in a browser (although it can be). It is meant to be viewed in a feed reader – either web-based or desktop app.

@rvoodoo: You’re spot on. RSS doesn’t incorporate any presentational data. It’s essentially just a specialised form of XML – which is used purely to transport data. The presentation is left to the parser at the other end.

wow thats interesting, so i cant even maybe change the colour of a box even?? I think I’ll just leave it alone then. LOl.

PS:
does the RSS show only new posts or does a new post go to the top of the list when it is edited such as additional content. in mine, i can only see my posts. i want the feed to show everytime i update a page as well as a post, and when I add new images etc etc
