“Categorize” posts

Is there a way to “categorize” my posts? For example, if the post has the tags “Upcoming”, then it will automatically be added to the “Upcoming events” Category.

Then I want posts within those categories to be displayed on my main page separately. In effect, there should be two rows with the category title displayed above each row with the relevant posts below it.
