post thumbnail in 2.9.1

    Hi,

    I’m using the new post thumbnail functionality in 2.9.1.

    I was wondering because at the moment, you add the thumbnail via an uploaded image, but can the thumbnail be generated from a url’ed image or automatically generated from an image that is in the post?

    Not using the_post_thumbnail() function/tag.

    What, not using…?

    I was looking at the comments on Mark Jaquith’s blog and it looks like you can’t get images from urls with this, only from saved images in the media library. If so can you recommend any alternatives that could use url’ed images.
