    Hello,

I’ve entered an image to show as default when a post or page doesn’t have a featured image. This was working perfectly fine before but it broke after an update (can’t say which one). Facebook’s debug tool reports that the og:image property is missing (for posts that have no featured image and not one manually specified through Yoast’s options for that specific post).

Thank you for looking into this.

    Sure!

    Here:

But it also happens with every other blog post (I don’t use a featured image on any of them).

Thanks for sharing the relevant URL with us. We looked at the relevant page and see no og:image meta at all and as such, Facebook isn’t showing the image. Can you please try reassigning a different image in the Yoast SEO social settings (Facebook) tab to see whether this makes any change for you?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yep, that’s exactly the problem. No og:image present.

I tried cleaning the image from Yoast’s settings and uploading a new one – that didn’t work unfortunately. Still no og:image

    Hello!

Can you please provide us a screenshot of your setup on the social tab of the Yoast SEO meta box? Please also include the image URL.

    Sure.

    Here it is:

    This is the image URL:

The Yoast SEO meta box on a single post is empty:

If I add an image there, it works.

But if the post has no image specified, then it won’t pull the default (which is set under SE0 -> Social.

Thank you for looking into it.

    Hi @rankwind

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are having about the featured image. We’ve tested this in our local environment but unfortunately, we could not reproduce the issue.
We are on WordPress 5.6 and Yoast SEO 15.5.

To test, we’ve created a new post with no image added, left the Facebook Image field in the Yoast metabox empty, and set an image in SEO > Social. We can see the image set in SEO > Social is being outputted in the source code as og:image.

Can you please confirm you are on the latest version? If the issue persists, we suggest performing a conflict check by following the steps here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

We look forward to your response.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
