We’re using your plugin to embed our YouTube videos and hide related videos so that our viewers only see the video we’re showing them and not any related (possibly entirely unrelated) videos at the end. While updating our site we noticed it does something unexpected.

The unexpected issue is as follows: all of our posts/news/events etc. are located (pages where we include videos) in categorical directories with a link and summary leading to the individual post. The problem is that the embed youtube brackets, e.g. [embedyt][/embedyt] get copied into the summary as seen below:
    Title/postlink
    [embedyt]link[/embedyt]Summary…

Whereas when we used the built in Youtube embedder from WordPress it was as follows:
    Title/postlink
    Summary…

Is it… supposed to do that or is there some setting we do not have enabled that will prevent it from showing up?

Edit: When I said article summary I meant post excerpt. Misspoke and cannot edit anymore.

    Hi,

Please send us links to example pages so we can visualize and investigate the problem.

Hi. Thanks for responding. This is the link you can follow: https://www.lighthouseguild.org/vision-health-2/
If you scroll down to the article entitled “Lunch & Learn with Angel Pacheco, Vision Rehabilitation” you’ll see that the post excerpt has the text [embedyt]link[/embedyt] present in the excerpt, but on the actual page the video does display.

Hello, hope you had a happy holiday! Might you have any updates on this issue? Thank you for taking the time to investigate/respond to my issue.

    Hi,

It’s not currently showing. Are you embedding using a different method?
Ideally, though, your theme shouldn’t be pulling shortcodes in the excerpts.

    Hi,

Sorry about that, a couple days ago I happened to be looking through the theme template files and noticed our theme has some custom logic/code that handles making the excerpt. I figure that was probably the issue, so I added a regex to remove the shortcode (for whatever reason it is captured) before its sent over to WP to be added to the page.

    Thanks for the assistance!
