Hi @rozecreative
I hope you are doing good today.
The faster way is to navigate to your site FTP, enter /wp-content/plugins/ folder and rename “wp-defender” folder to “wp-defender_”. This will cut off temporary Defender from the database and disable it as well.
After that, you should be able to log in to the site. After you log in to the site, rename the folder back via FTP and activate the plugin. Later on, add your IP to Allowlist in Defender – > Firewall -> IP Banning. In the same place remove your IP from the Blocklist area.
=============
If you have access to PHPMyAdmin and you familiar with that, you can move you IP between
ip_blacklist and ip_whitelist
wp_options -> wd_blacklist_lockout_settings
Kind Regards,
Kris
I am having the exact same issue. I have been logging on to work on blogs for our businesses site for months and now this block has come up. I don’t know what the site FTP is or how to create/name these folders. Could you please provide more explicit detail and possibly some screenshots? Thank you.
Hi @thoseplantladies
The sFTP is a Secure File Transfer Protocol.
The steps to create the account depends on your hosting.
In case your hosting provider users cPanel, you can use the file manager, the PHP my admin is also located on the cPanel.
Could you please contact your hosting support and ask them to follow any of the above suggestions?
In case you need any extra help, can you please create a new topic?

hey there!
I have the same problem, but I’ve never installed this plugin! I’ve tried to login and Defender (what wasn’t even uploaded) shut me out. So now I’ve installed with ftp, renamed it, but nothing changed. What can I do?
Hi @naturbyvivien
Sorry to hear you are having this problem.
This is weird, the plugin doesn’t install by itself, however, it is default installed on the WPMU DEV hosting.
If you use the WPMU DEV hosting please open a ticket on https://premium.wpmudev.org/hub/support/
In case it is the Free defender and a different hosting, please open a new ticket here:

Hi @wpmudevsupport12
I have an easier way to do that
turn on VPN on any of your devices and login in to your site then Firewall > IP banning and remove your IP
that’s it π`
Hi @khalil4z
I hope you are doing well.
Yes that will help on most of cases, Opera has a free VPN which is a simple and free way to unblock the IP π
