when you edit header.php, you will find a line with some code like this:
<?php bloginfo('description'); ?>
add your link to it:
<a href="http://www.linktoyoursite.com"><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></a>
not sure about the sidebar, maybe it would help if you post a link to your site

I was wondering if it is possible to get rid of the black marker on the top?

( i haven’t used it, but i have seen it recommended many times in this forum for linking a page to an external site)
i can’t see a black marker – could you be more specific?
