Hi @elliotg,
Thanks for getting in touch, and thank you for using Kale- we really appreciate it.
The pro version does include a search template, but the free version should display using the standard blog feed layout. Here’s an example from our demo:

Would you mind including a link to the site where you’re seeing an empty search results page? We’d love to help.
Thank you Steven,

That will definitely return a set of results if a search.php page is in place.
But if not, it just is an empty page.
Thanks!
Thanks @elliotg, this is very helpful.
The demo site I linked to actually doesn’t have a search.php in the theme folder either, it defaults to the standard blog feed to display search results.
This is also working correctly on your site, but someone has added some custom CSS to hide the blog feed. I don’t know whether it was done inadvertently or intentionally, but if that custom CSS is removed, the search results will display again normally.
Hope this helps!
Ugh!!! I should have viewed the source. Thanks Steven!
I’ll just look at hiding the posts unless it came in as a search query.
Thanks again!
Sounds like a great approach- if you need anything else just let us know.
Take care!
