WordPress account properly linked to Phpbb forum account

Hi all,

First, I am not a web developer; I’m just someone who helps oversee this site and who is a hobbyist who has learned about WordPress over the years. So while this may seem easy to some or most, I’ve had a really hard time getting this to work cleanly and properly.

I know there are plugins that will link a WordPress account to that of a Buddypress forum and even some I’ve seen that will link to phpbb forum. Having said that, I simply cannot get the user accounts with the phpbb forum to connect properly with the WordPress account, no matter the plugin I try. Even if I get one “working” for phpbb, it’s not a very clean setup.

I don’t currently have any plugins for this active, so right now the site uses two different logins (one for website, one for forum). What I’d like to setup is the ability for users to use just one username/login for the entire site, including the phpbb forum.

This is difficult for me as I’m not a web developer, as mentioned above. Plugins have been fantastic, but I haven’t found a clean one that truly does the job well.

Is this something someone could help us with?
