permission properties

Hi I´m trying to alter a template and I get this message

You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.

I have tried to change all the files in my admin area : chmod’en

wp/wp-admin/theme-editor.php
and css files

as informed to 666 or 777

but still no joy
