Site messed up when enabled

hey there, i installed and when i clicked to turn it on, all of a sudden half my plugins deactivated, and it completely messed up the rank math plugin so all of a sudden my woocommerce products would not serve. Then it showed a lot of old messages woocommerce database needed to be updates, etc etc. I was able to reactivate everything, and when i deactivated rankmath and reactivated my products came back. any idea what happened and how to make sure it does not happen again? sincerely appreciate your time.
