Very confused – please help!

    I want to build a website using wordpress. I’ve registered a domain name with Gandi.net and will use site5 as a host. I’ve set up a basic site using Fantastico but if I want to change/edit this, the page is asking me to log on. I tried using my original user name and a message came up saying that user name did not exist. I re-registered using a different user name and now the same thing is happening. I can log on to post on this forum but not to change the look of my site?? Please help…..someone!!!

    You said you used Fantastico to install. When you did the install you had to enter an Administrator-username and Password as one of the very first steps.

    Now that it is installed you go to your website, whatever the address is http://www.yourdomainname.xxx/wp-admin and enter the Admin name and Password you selected when you set it up. If you enter the correct name and password you selected when you installed it, it should work.

    sorry to be so clueless, but where do I enter the admin name and password?

    You’re not clueless, there is a learning curve here.

    Type in your website name followed by /wp-admin. A screen will pop up that has a place to put your user name and password in.
