Hi, I’ve been asked to set up an ad in a sidebar widget that will show on 10% of pages. It’s a standalone display, and we do have other ads in a rotation that show in the same space, but are there 100% of the time. I’m a little stumped on how to make this happen.

    Hi

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please keep in mind that the forums on wordpress.org are only for the plugins that are also hosted here. If you need help with any premium extensions of Advanced Ads, I want kindly ask you to reach out to our support.

If the Tracking Ads add-on is enabled, I would check the stats and spread the impressions of this ad unit over a specific period to get 10% of the estimated impressions as a result. Here, you can find a tutorial about this setup.

If you run the basic version of Advanced Ads, I would do a little trick. I recommend creating a group that contains the 10%-ad and another (empty) ad unit without any ad code in it. Use the random rotation and define an ad weight of 1 for the 10%-ad and an ad weight of 9 for the empty ad unit. In 90% of all page impressions, Advanced Ads will serve the empty ad unit, and nothing happens in the frontend. In 10% of all page impressions, the limited ad unit will show up.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

oh and one minor thing i can see where I can change my notifications I seem to be flooded with them and trying to reduce my email clutter….what with the news updates, author updates, appeals for funds from I need to pare down my inbox and my life…

    Hi jakecallerm

Advanced Ads doesn’t send you emails if you don’t subscribe to our newsletter. You can disable notifications in Advanced Ads > Settings > General by deactivating the checkbox “Disable Ad Health and other notices”.

If you have further questions, please open a new thread for them to keep the forums clear and focused on single issues.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
