Cant do external linking

I am having issue that is across all domains and themes. I cant seem to post media to site in widgets that is not from local import. I can upload to library and then post image or video to site from there but anything like an affiliate link were I input code or url does not work with the exception of sometime iframe works. It does not matter if I use text, image or custom html widgets. I post the codes or urls as provided and nothing shows on page or in widgets. I might also add I mentioned this is all domain, multiple themes and it is also multiple sources providing the links or codes. Its almost as if the links are all broken or the media is positioned off visible viewpoint. I can enter html to holder images from local and they present correct but external just present with surrounding elements floated back together and ignoring the widget content block. Everything I have found on this topic does not work. I should be able to add url or code to widget and presto I have image. I have been able to get some links to work but those have to be iframe links so inline works but block seem not to work
