Run files from Firefox

Alright so I’m working on this wordpress site for work. We store all our Programs on a server in our district. I am trying to build a wordpress site to hot link to the install directories. This is all done internally in our distrait so no one from outside can get to them. So to browse to the server for example \\servername\tech\programs\Adobe\autorun.exe

So what my problem is when I create a link to the files it works great in internet explorer but when I try Firefox it says it doesn’t exist. Is there something I need to put infront of the the direct link to the install files? like file:\\servername\tech\programs\Adobe\autorun.exe
