Importing to Self Hosted

I’m helping my friend move his blog from wordpress.com to my server. I created a wordpress for him few weeks ago (v2.8.6) he exported his blog then imported it to the fresh wordpress we installed. He got several hundred posts moved but stopped at August 2009. He still have many posts left.

Why did this happen? is there a solution to this? it’s not possible to manually add 80+ posts it will take a lot of time.

Notice that an old part of his blog was in Blogger then he moved to wordpress. But that part of Blogger and some parts of WordPress were imported successfuly. I’m not sure if this information would help solve the situation.

Are there tools/plugins that help import/export an entire blog without problems?
