Hi, I’m trying to setup SMTP for my email hello@1treecards.com which is hosted through Zoho Mail but I keep getting this error when I do a test email:

“Could not authenticate your SMTP account.
This means we were able to connect to your SMTP host, but were not able to proceed using the email/password in the settings.”

I’ve triple checked that the username and password are correct and have followed instructions on the plugin and the zoho instructions (https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/zoho-smtp.html).

Can anyone offer any advice? I use cloudflare cdn if that makes any difference? Thanks 🙂

  • Hi @michiko3343,

When you get a chance, could you please share a full error log recorded when you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test? Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log. This will give us an idea of what might be going on.

Please note that you might need to use an APP password instead of the regular Zoho account password.

    Thanks 🙂

Thanks so much for your reply, I added an app specific password and it worked 😀

Great. I’m glad to hear you sorted it out and thanks for taking time to let us know.

    Have a good one!
