• I was trying to install Akismet and it said I needed an API key.
So I tried to register at wordpress.com but my username from wordpress.org was already being used. So I signed up with another user name, and an API key was e-mailed to me. I should have known it wasn’t
going to work. Now it says there was already a key assigned to my e-mail so it won’t send me another one.
    What to do???

  • Erm, let me get this right:

You registered to get an api key and the key was send to you.
Now you want another one because your api key does not work?

    Why?

What makes you think it does not work? What “error” does wordpress produce or tell you about? You sure need to provide a bit more info…

Or even better: contact Akismet support with your API key and a description of the problem at http://akismet.com/contact/!

I am registered at word press. org.
I was told to register at wordpress.com to get an api.
When I tried that , I was told that my user name(.org) was used
by someone else at word press .com.
So I established a new name at wp.com, that is not the same as my
wp.org name thinking that maybe my e-mail address was compatible with both. The api sent to my new accoun is invalid on the .org site.
Now I,m told that an api was already sent to my e-mail address and another can’tr be created or sent.
    Pretty confusing I know.

    thanks for the response
