Hi, is it possible to change the colour from the orange in the widget and full calendar to something more in keeping with my site?

you can try and modify this events calendar custom CSS – https://pastebin.com/G2hhExew

you can use other WP plugin that will allow you to add custom CSS without editing any theme or plugin files.
