Post Title’s are broken in Google Search

Hi there!
We are facing some problems in showing target post titles in Google Search results. When we use site:example.com in Google Search, it shows missing and changed post titles. In simple words, each post title is not showing the title that we place through Yoast > Search Appearance.
Also it adds separator into each post title but we did not use any separator until now. How to fix these titles issue?

Hi @nomanpk,

Can you check to see if Yoast SEO is outputting the correct SEO titles and meta descriptions? We have guides for troubleshooting the issue at the links below:
- My SEO title isn’t showing as I have entered it.
- Google shows the wrong meta description for my site
For the problem with the separator in titles, can you describe the problem in more detail? What appears and what did you expect to see? Does this match the settings if you check the SEO title variables when you edit the page or check the default settings? You can find the default SEO titles for each type of page by going to SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types or Taxonomies.

Hi,

While we are unable to review the source code of those pages we do recommend taking a look in the source code and searching around for the title and description. If they match what you entered into Yoast, Google is changing it. This guide explains more about how to view and search in the source code: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/view-page-source-site/

Is there a way to give source code without giving url of site and also mention why Google is changing post titles if they?

Hi,

If you’ve set the post title as such, and you do a SITE: search (without any search term manipulation) and it shows as the same, you can be sure that you’ve got the correct title, and it’s most likely search term manipulation as to why Google changed the post title.

Otherwise, it’s also likely they just didn’t select your preferred title and decided to go with their own title. There’s not much we can recommend for this, aside from trying to write better titles — https://yoast.com/help/my-seo-title-isnt-displayed-as-i-have-entered-it/

Thanks Yoast team for the help and support.
Point No 1: I checked and 100% sure that title in the source code is perfect but not appeared in Search results. One of example is:

Point No 2: I am 110% sure that site:example.com will not only showing wrong titles but these also appears wrong in query search. One of example is below:

Hi @nomanpk ,

If the source code shows the correct title entered into the plugin, but Google is showing a different title on search results, then Google cache might be outdated or Google ignored your site title. To know what are your options, you may want to check this article and Google’s help doc about titles and descriptions.
