Hi,

I want to create a grouped product, some of the products I wish to group have variations. Is there a way to restrict the variable product to only one of its variations?

For example – I have a product that is Penne Pasta with a choice of many different sauces. I wish to create a grouped product with this Penne Pasta and a Mexican Pizza. But I want to restrict the Pasta to only 1 sauce.

How can I do this?

As noted here:

Grouped products can only be composed of Simple products. While it’s technically possible to add a variable product to a grouped product, you’ll see something like this:

… and you won’t be able to select a variation and add the grouped product to the cart.

What will work for you is Product Bundles:

It’ll end up doing exactly what you want. 🙂
