  • Disable your plugins.

If I were to guess, I’d say it’d be the Google Analytics plugin that you’ve got doing that. If you haven’t got the latest version of that plugin, upgrade it or switch to a different one.

    alism –

No, that didn’t work. All my plugins are up to date. I also turned all of them of and the problem was not fixed.

    Any other ideas?

Have a look at the comment author link section in your comments.php file then and see if you can see anything amiss.

Do you now what it should normally look like? My problem is that I’m not technically proficient enough to really dig into the php files and spot something wrong.

Knowing what it should look like if it was working properly would be hugely helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.

Tell you what, switch to the default theme. If it works then, at least you’ve narrowed it down to your theme. Then drop your comments.php into http://wordpress.pastebin.ca/ and post the direct url here.

If you’ve still got the same problem with the default theme, then, err, well, ummm…

Changing themes did fix the problem. Here is the pastebin URL:

Have you got the original theme files that you can re-upload?

I’m guessing you know that your site was hacked by the way? (as the spammy links don’t seem to be showing now). Not sure if that’s related…

I can find them and re-upload the theme if you think that would help.

I did know that my site was hacked, but I’m not sure if I”ve corrected the problem.

I tried to follow all the instructions on the WordPress Codex page. I checked my own computer for malware. I did a fresh install of all the Word Press files (outside of the wp-content folder) a few days ago and changed all my passwords.

The thing of it is – there were <b>never</b> any spam links actually showing up in the posts or the comments. They were always hidden and I didn’t even know I was hacked until Google dropped my search traffic down to almost zero.

My organic search traffic is back to normal now, and Google Webmaster tools says it can’t find anything wrong with the site. But how can I tell if I’m still hacked?

Like I said, I not hugely proficient when it comes to mucking about with the database or php files so I’m kinds flying blind on both of those issues.

The trouble with being hacked is that you have to assume pretty much anything could’ve been changed. Themes are a common target because even when people do an upgrade of core wordpress files, the theme itself usually remains unchanged and any malicious code would remain intact. You should really restore your theme and plugins from good copies as a matter of practice, just to be on the safe side. If it fixes this problem too – bonus.

i am getting an error where on the no comments link it is showing the url 2 times. Here is the example: http://rattlethempotsandpans.com/http:/rattlethempotsandpans.com/recipes#respond

Does anyone know how to fix this? if so can you tell me.

What i have done to fix it:
1 Changed Theme and same error.
2 updated the current theme and same error
3 tried to look at the comments.php code but couldnt find anything.

    Let me know
